Royal Plaza for entertainment

ROYAL PLAZA FOR ENTERTAINMENT I had never thought that Royal Plaza in the Al- Sadd is more than a boring plaza for luxury shopping .I have never intended to go there .
But when I read about its art-deco cinemas its sapphire ,ruby ,golden halls I decided that I must go there a day .
It was a stunning experience to enter the main atrium of the plaza .WE had the feeling that we travelled through the history and space and we found ourselves in the roaring 1930's .The sun shimmering through the glass dome enlightened the whole plaza .Star shaped windows ,vintage style floor pattern , a huge clock at the top of the elevator'case ,stained glass lamps - it seemed that everything was wonderfully planned .
WE got surprised when the concierge at the customer service had asked if we wish a fun stroller for our kid .It was for free . Waiting for the elevator we found an automatic shoe-shine machine .Also it was free .The lifts' doors were transparent and the lift-boys were wearing Santa's cap .
AS we came for entertainment we went right to the cafe "Cup&cino" It was again a joy to admire their stylish decor , furniture .
Reef fun-city for kids was our next place to go inside the plaza .For 20 rial there was unlimited access to the Dodgem , soft toys ,huge slides ,craft corner ,let'pretend corner .Our kid had so good time there that we missed the kids chorus performing on the first floor during that 90 minutes that we spent there .
When we got out from there and looked down we saw already Santa sitting there - he was a Filipino Santa - for me it was very special .He was listening carefully to the kids and to their parents .
Another Filipino man made face paintings- extraordinary good ones .It was also the courtesy of the plaza .
When we returned the fun- stroller to the concierge- our kid got a packet of marshmallows and she had the possibility to play the game "guess how many candies in the jar " .Though she did not win - but all in all we left the plaza with the feeling that this is the place where we must come again soon .

jamboqatar-- Royal Plaza is on Al Sadd street. From Sports Roundabout, you go past the Grand Regency and Centrepoint. Then at the next set of traffic lights--there's those huge billboards-- you turn left. That's Al Sadd street. You drive down the street, and keep looking on the left. Once you've passed RP, do a u-turn, and look for the slip road which takes you to the parking.

Tavola in Royal Plaza is fabulous! It's also pretty expensive.

Lovely description alma wad! I enjoyed reading it.

I used to live within walking distance of Royal Plaza and I have to agree it's an enjoyable building to visit. It isn't the sort of place you'd visit regularly for shopping, but it's worth it once and a while. I love the big kitchen shop on the ground floor (Tavola?). They have a branch in City Center now but the Royal Plaza one is much better.

For those who don't know it's half way along Al Saad Street - which has the CenterPoint mall at one end and La Cigale hotel at the other. The Royal Plaza has a big dome on top.

I really enjoy it. its a nice mall, very clean and with good stores. and I went there to fix my watch at the Jewelry store in the right corner and they did for free. I was in shock. For free in Qatar! Plus the offer me a good coffee and they make me feel so good there with all their service.

Recommended.

Its worth even just for window shopping lol.

I don't enjoy Royal Plaza whatsoever. Have you noticed how it is always empty? I think it's too pricy.

It's the last mall I visit for shopping. I only go there to visit Body Shop, Levis and love Cup&Cino! I was there last week for a nice cup of cappuccino..:)

Enjoy your time anywhere you go..:)

I am sorry if you got that impression . I am a great fan of art-deco style and the the building itself was so wonderful example of that .It may be not a great thing for those who do not like that style or for those who do not care about styles.

The other thing was : our kid got so many extra things for free that we were really surprised and satisfied .

All in all I just wanted to inform the others in Qatar that though the plaza is a luxury shopping place - it has affordable and even free entertainment facilities -worth seeing .
