The State of Salwa Road

Would someone please enlighten me as to what's happening with Salwa road.
I'm referring to the stretch between the Ramada traffic lights and the Darwish underpass/roundabout.
They dug up the dividing median I can't remember when (2 months?), uprooted the trees, close sections of the road, cars pile in to each other and I have no idea what's being done and for what.
If someone knows please let me know.
