Yes indeedy...those damned Coke people...forcing poor victims to drink their products to the detriment of the eco systems. Maybe I'm getting something wrong here but with over a billion people living on about 4 square miles of land, there are probably more users of ground water than the coke plant.

Check out that boycott site...I think there was a maker of hemp clothing in Fiji that wasn't on the list.

I'm still gonna drink Coke, though.

I grew up in the Middle East where Coke was blacklisted for many years and therefore all we had was Pepsi, Canada-Dry and RC Cola. But when Coke finally came Coke was it for me. Actually I had it in the US before the boycott was lifted in the Arab world.

On the Ethical Consumer magazine's boycott list:

Coca-Cola

for its repression of trade union activity in Colombia and its depletion of groundwater resources in India.

...

Websites: Colombia's Food and Drink Workers' Union SinalTrainal, who called the boycott on 22nd July 2003, Killer Coke, and Coke Watch

In India, Coca Cola has caused severe water shortages, polluted groundwater and soil around its bottling plant, distributed its toxic waste as "fertiliser" to local farmers and sold drinks with extremely high levels of pesticides.

Y'know, e, I was in a shopping centre a few years ago and there was a promotional stand asking people to do a blind tasting, 'take the Pepsi challenge'. So I did. And I preferred the Pepsi. I think a lot of people drink Coca Cola because it's branding is more pervasive.

Actually though, now I drink neither. Coca Cola has an appalling track record in terms of employee rights and also siphoning off water resources.

Pepsi 27 cents (Coke, Magdalena, come on)

Carton of cigarettes $16

Depends on the restaurant and whether you're having a drink, minimum $15

Spa (depends on what kind, hotels are more expensive), start at $30-40)

The last one depends on the brands.
