This was posted in the Q and A section but it is an important warning for ladies to be safe in Doha. Be careful which taxi you get in

Karwa Taxi #713 Arrogance justified?
Yesterday August 1, 2013 we went for shopping at Al Mera Mansoura and also to dine at Jollibee. After doing our shopping we boarded a Karwa taxi back to our residence, with plate no. #713 with an Ethiopian looking driver.
Upon learning that we are going to Souq Al Fardan only, he told us that he is not going there. He preferred ladies passenger I learned. So I asked him jokingly, why? are you going to Dubai? This time he got angry with me and yelled to me "[Mod Removed] You". I was surprised because I never expected that my joke will be taken bad by this arrogant driver and will be receprocated by arrogance.
When I returned back his "[Mod Removed] You too" yell, he went down from his taxi a challenged me for a fight. He was bigger and younger than me, but good only because I was with 2 other companions so he went back to his car.
My Question is: Is it justifiable to have such arrogant driver employed under the service group of this very hospitable country? With this kind of attitude, he don't deserve a decent job. He should live in the jungle alone.
I hope Karwa will take action for this complaint.

The poster actually lucky since he in qatar.. This is the safe country.

If he in his country maybe filipin or else.. He lucky enough if he just got a double slide slaps.. If he not lucky maybe there he may got a free bullets or stab or punch in the face.

The poster need to behave more and not just feel that he have right to ask that driver can go to dubai, etc..

These taxi drivers will be super-friendly, super-polite and super-helpful when the Metro station is up and running.

BTW, Rip Cord is all barks and no bite. Don't get upset, just throw the stick and play fetch with him (eh, Rip Cord the old dog?).

Thanks Sulieman for sharing the lesson learned ;) even I m wondering what kind if joke is that. By the way, if the taxi doesn't wanna go then u have to take another taxi. I r showing ur anger to him and complaining about him. But, I m sure u can never complain about the situation and about the person who are in a better position who behaves rude with u. Can u ?

Ray is a guy name, isn't it?

Lesson learned

1- Don't mention the word "Dubai" to the Ethiopian looking taxi drivers, or you will get your a55 kicked.

2- Don't go to Jollibee after shopping in Al mera, that brings a bad luck.

BTW Ray needs a Humor lessons

are you going to Dubai? :/

I am sure Rip Cord would have gone through some other story and something would have not been happened like this. As I have gone through his several posts he replied in Iftar Tent isuue Forum and at some others ... he represents only biased and hatred side of Life ... I am sure story would be different and he is trying to offload his sufferings and agony here with different words as usual ... Wish you for some better side of Life and Human-touch Mr. Rip Cord.

There are good sides also to public transport and here is what happened to me on a Karwa bus. Several weeks back I took a Karwa bus to my home. After reaching home, I realized I had left behind my envelope in the bus. The envelope contained invoices totaling QR6000+ which I had to submit to the company. I called Karwa bus station and they informed me the envelope had been deposited by the bus driver and it was with them. I got the envelope back.

It takes all sorts of people to make the world!
