XXX in Qatar

Oryx
By Oryx

I was at football match here in Qatar and at half time some music was put on…
Imagine my horror when booming around the stadium and neighbourhood is:

‘Slap you b*tc*
Get on your knees
blow my whistle.

Slap you b*tc*
Get on your knees
suck my whistle’

XXX rap music…..!!!!!!!!!! At first I was horrified and then I laughed in bewilderment.
then a rap song in Spanish came on and it was worse than this! I was stunned – what if there were dignitaries in the stadium? or multilinguals? ohhhhh horror!

then it abruptly stopped!
the scoreboard announced, ‘it is now time for the call to prayer’

I have never been so relieved to hear the call to prayer and even for me it was a cleansing process!

Another quirky happening in Qatar!

(no surely that is more corrupting than passing alcohol btw 2 car boots?)

How young ARE you??

"She never enjoys just endures... bless her.

I think you will find it is common amongst Brits born during or just after the 2nd World War:

they can be annoyingly frugal and are too 'sensible'.

The austerity they came from never really left them."

I was born in 1947 (WW2 ended in 1945) and I've never been sensible in my entire LIFE! Nor frugal. Although I learned the value of commodities and food, due to their still being rationing of certain foods, because my Mother was one of those Brits who I think you are referring who LIVED through that era of frugality and austerity which was brought about by rationing caused by 2 World Wars.

You Mother probably just followed her Mum's example, as mine did, in trying to keep a family well fed on home grown vegetables and made clothes for the kids rather than pay lots to buy them. I have nothing but tons of admiration for the ladies of that era.

I guess I'm old enough to be your Mother, from what you say ....

eeeeeek!

To a site about "ENGRISH"

Which is apparently Japanese or Far Eastern horrible English slogans or signs or shirts or whatever.

It was quite hilarious, sorry I don't remember it to repost it. But apparetly the ad agencies in Japan use English for style and shape and sell mostly to consumers who don't even read English but like the "look" of it....the result is some SERIOUSLY messed up stuff LOL

Stay safe all.

Alexa - Just think about my situation at that time. I was alone in a beach of the tiny Island. Windy. You have whole to yourself. A person with unquestionable high Morals like me prevented the disaster:)

But I doubt I will play in the league with them for many reasons:

1) you need permission from both managers and the league commisioner to switch teams halfway through the season.

2) Its tough competition, they have least goals against in the entire league (don't know its goalkeeping or defense, but i'm sure its tough).

3)Its not fair to their current team for me to waltz in even IF I am good enough.

So most likely it will just be to train with them, because even if I don't get a start in the league, I still want to play at least once a week and keep in shape. Besides, i kow those guys....I trained with them before the start of the season =)

Like I said, I am still available for Gamuda, but despite playing well (I thought) in the last 3 practices I haven't gotten a start, so I doubt they will call me up.

Stay safe.

Oh yes... I will never get over it... I always spend a lot in the Nine West sale.

Everything had to be sensible and and durable I can still remember trying to break a pair of shoes when I was 10. Horrible like orthopeadic shoes.

My mother is very very puritan... like the ones on Black adder 1.

One of those brits that takes even their hobbies seriously like fell walking at 3 degrees in pouring rain.

Oh poor you Oryx...did your Mum make you wear 'sensible slacks' as a girl to go with your sturdy walkers?!

When I was at school in the UK there was a teacher who accompanied us on Saturday shopping trips and she would always say to us ' sensible slacks, girls, sensible slacks' for what to wear when we were let loose.

I missed the last training session unfortunately, because my wife sprained her ankle (so I stayed home to watch and play with my baby daughter!).

The problem for me is my hectic work schedule....I work 60 hour weeks (10 hour days for 6 days) and then I have 3 hour classes 3 nights a week....so I hardly get to see my family =(

Gamuda's training times are too hard for me to make, so I will be traning with team Scotland from now on (they train early morning on Fridays before my wife and daughter wake up...that way I can still spend the day with them). I have spoken to the coach about it, and if they ever switch back to mornings i'll come back.

Sorry buddy, but I guess you'll be seeing less of me in the future =(

Good luck to you guys the rest of the season (i'm still registered with Gamuda btw and available for games, but they never called me when I was traning with them so its doubtful i'd get a call up now).

Stay safe.

I was just really greatful my mum wasnt sitting next to me....

She wouldn't have seen the funny side at ALL....she is very literal.

She has never understood the purpose of thongs because, 'they don't cover you properly so they don't keep you warm'

and She has never understood why any girl buys shoes they she can't walk in, 'What good is a pair of shoes if they are not sturdy walkers?'

I remember two great t-shirts in Korea. One was worn by a 10 year old girl and it said "Rape Me" and another was worn by a 6 year old boy and it had a picture of Bambi bent down eating grass and it said "Face Down, A** Up that's the way I like to F****."

So very few people pick up on the subtle nuances of much of what I say/intend to say, that I have become accustomed to no reaction....

Its been some years since I strated using this nic (which I also use for many other forums) that I had almost forgotten there are people on who DO get it ;)

Thanks for making my day.

I've been out to eat and suddenly you hear a crazy rap song with all sorts of profanities - and all these kids eating with their parents. On one occassion I had to ask them to turn off an Enimen album since it just got down right embarassing.

I reckon the staff from Asian Country X have a couple of CDs cut who may (or may not) know the meanings of some of the lyrics and they just load them into the store sound systems.

Crazeeeee....

Missed you too....

Been away for 3 weeks on vacation, and buried in catch up work since we got back.

I still lurk on this site, but haven't had much time to post lately.....that and the sudden sharp increase in the number of mullahs on this website have seriously cut down on my posts =(

May I ak why "doom laden"? Not that I don't think its hilarious =p

My wife and I were at the BABYSHOP when XXX Rap came on the speakers! We asked an employee if they noticed anything unusual and after a minute their eyes bulged and they made a mad dash to the back office to turn it off, apologizing profusely the whole time.

We just couldn't believe it and still laugh about it today.

I mean at a football stadium is pretty bad, but the BABYSHOP???LOL

ROFL. I remember when I was in Korea, the Korean teachers taught our kindergardeners a dance routine for a festival (kindergardeners being ages 3 to 8 respectively) The song they choose was:

"Sucky Sucky

Licky Licky

F***ky F***ky

Oh Baby"

"How come I can pick my ears but not my nose? Who made up that rule anyway? How come you say that's the way it is, that's just the way it goes, maybe you should decide for yourself what you can do and what you can say." Ani Difranco
