Christmas and everybody's sending their money

The problem I had with expat friends who celebrate Christmas back home is that when it's the time of the season they send their full salary (I mean FULL) to their families to prepare for the festivities...

...that they already forget the fact that they don't keep as much as enough money for them to spend or eat for the whole month til New Year or the next salary that they have ask me to borrow a little bit of a loan money for their personal expenses in Qatar.

Sometimes I just seem to wonder why such people who equally earn the same salaries for a living and working in Qatar will ever forget to leave some of that amount for themselves in this Yuletide season. I know we Christians are too focused to make our families be happy back home even if we're far away...but come on! It's Christmas! Leave some expenses for yourselves fer Christ's sake! (excuse the pun)

I was one of that kind and i learned from that lesson,we sacrifice ourself here for the sake of our love ones back home,we saw them happy celebrating that special seasons although we are just looking at them on the monitor, its nice feeling as well that even on that way we shared thier joy and lessen the sadness and loneliness we felt...what i learned is that We have also to think of ourself, because we are working here for them, whatever happen to us,no family here,no one will care if something happen and its a shame to ask or lend somebody here whom not related to us...i always believe that saying goes...KEEP A PENNY FOR A RAINY DAYS...it really applies.

unless you are willing to never see it again. It's not that hard to say NO.

Simply because we love those people we're sending money...

It's part of the tradition... culture...

We can sacrifice a little for their sake, it's just once a year anyways. :D

Merry Christmas to all!

to commercialism. If you're alone here, what to celebrate. Anyway, we don't believe in it, so no problem with me!

... if that's the case all you have to say is 'no, you can't borrow money because I have my own expenses and have kept money for them before sending the rest home'.

They just have to accept your explanation.

I do know of friends of mine who are asked by their families to send more then they can home. That is not fair but they think they can cope here, depriving themselves from anything just to make the family back at home happy. Sad but true, some families don't think of the ultimate sacrifice that many people are making by being working away from home and living in difficult conditions.

It's just unfair that they forget to see that I also have the same set of those three words this Christmas and it's easy for them to ask me because I always come prepared for personal reasons, Christmas or not...
