OK so here goes.

There aint much on the music club scene in Doha but where is the worst DJ in Doha, Qatar, in fact The World . Yes its the Norman Wisdom look a like in Continental Bar. How I laughed and then left after 10 mins. Dont just twiddle the knobs and look at your laptop Norman - Listen to the music!!

Anybody worse out there?

Having been in and out of the Qatari Party scene over the last 4-5 years, I have learnt one thing. Qatar has Djs that can mix, they are the guys doing the house parties, the small parties, the occasional large one when they get the chance, and Djs, who, because they threw a party or two THINK they can mix, and now, cos they have a defacto name for themselves, they get the big gigs, which get them more well known etc etc...

There are some talented DJs here, you just have to find them. Take Paul Mendez as an example, he is a world Top 100 DJ and along with Global DJs (RIP) they transformed the way we party in Doha. The Govt took 2 steps forward and then 5 steps back with partying and all the recent laws have completely killed the Entertainment industry here. He is now doing a weekly @ Paloma, waiting for these laws to change so that parties can return to this country....

@ Martyn St.Helens...by saying "bad dj's in Doha",you're implying that there is a possibility that there are good dj's in this town...& there aren't any!!...& before any of you "fans" out there start hopping mad & start abusing me,consider this for a moment...dj's get hired(@ good places) on reputation & that reputation is built based on the happening cities/clubs they've played @/been resident @...in light of that, why would any good dj come & play in this town with no nightlife to speak of whatsoever if not for the money?...yes Paul Van Dyk came here & played BECAUSE he's Paul Van Dyk,playing one lousy gig in one lousy town is going to do no harm to his rock solid reputation AND he obviously got paid a shitload for it,so why not?...if we're talking resident dj's,like i said,no good ones would want to come here, the money notwithstanding...a point in case, there was an opening @ one of the 5 star hotel "nightclubs" here & i asked my mate who plays @ a fairly big club in Bombay if he was interested in taking the job for a year or so,ONLY to make that kind of money in a short period & he replied saying that while the offer was great purely from a monetary point of view, after a year or so of playing here,he'd be in dj wilderness after that & wouldn't get too many offers based on the fact that his CV would say "last played @ so&so "club" in Doha"...so really,my point is this, there are no good dj's in this town for the simple reason that there's no reason for a good dj to come to this town...to play where? @ qube?...all you need there is a giant karaoke machine or a "dj" that plays sappy love songs, everywhere else is equally pathetic, the pearl @ the marriot you say, puhleeze,it's a fancy place & all but as for the quality of the music & the mixing, leaves much to be desired...

Not really heard any dj's since being here,I'm from just down the road from you- Astley. But PVD played here at the beginning of Oct, did you get to see him? Or is that not the sort of music you are into?

I am a big fan of the one-headphone one-hand rock out... who cares abuot the music, all you need are some fasionable clothes, flashing lights, diva-like sunglasses (why are these so popular, i hate them), and about 2 hours of lazily downloaded crap from the charts. how much do they pay these guys anyway?

Been here 5 weeks and really into this lemonade with mint. So Im running my own survey for best Lemonade with Mint in Doha. Im looking at taste, temp, surroundings, price, waitress etc

So far tried Iranian and Morroccan resturaunts in the Souk, 2 places in City centre, Ramada and 2 place within Ezdan

I just love this stuff, why cant we get it in UK?

And the winner is so far the Columbian coffee shop in Ezdan

Any other suggestions??
