racism at 2012 euro games

The monkey reference is getting a bit old, don’t you think? An Italian newspaper doesn’t think that the reference is out of touch at all, or even offensive.

The newspaper is under fire in the international community for portraying a prominent black player to be a King Kong figure, swiping at soccer balls as they get thrown at him.

The player initially expressed reservations about competing in Eastern Europe because of racism. It turns out that his greatest racism came from his home country of Italy.

wonder how the racist sports writer will portray him today after he carried Italy to victory over Germany by scoring two goals.

Racists will never learn to respect people of color, it’s just not in the racist mentality.

Congratulations Mario,

The BBC do something before every tournament to go on about how bad it is and telling everyone not to go! They did it two years ago for South Africa and they will do it in two years time for Brazil.

I imagine there is still a problem at club level but ask any England fan who went to Ukraine (a lot of my friends went) and they will tell you they had a fantastic time.

They sang a few songs to take the p*ss out of Sol Campbell who was telling everyone on the BBC documentary that if you go you will come home in a coffin!

Im from that part of europe, and trust me BBC shows what they actually wanna show...they dont show the good things into Ukraine and Poland.Im Macedonian but i have been in Poland and Ukraine a Lot of times for football games and i haven't seen these things...in EVERY country in the world there are ppl who support racism,so trust me , poland and ukraine are just as good as other countries

I saw a documentary by BBC and saw that racism problem in Ukraine and Poland is very disturbing. Officials reject the reality that there are racist acts going on in their stadiums. It gave me a phobia to travel on that part of Europe.

.... unlike Sunday when he walked off the field like a petulant child at the final whistle.

Balotelli has an awful lot of growing up to do - unfortunately the circumstances in which he finds himself - spoilt, petulant multi millionaire adored by one half of Manchester do not lend themselves to anything other than the type of behaviour that we witnessed from him in the Prem last season.

Putting it bluntly, he is an a..hole of the very highest order.

Some of his best moments;

- £10,000 in parking fines.

- Car has been impounded 27 times.

- £300,000 fine for throwing darts at the youth team.

- Won £25,000 in a casino, gave £1,000 to a tramp outside the casino.

- Started a fight with 4 bouncers after breaking the "no touching" rule at a strip club.

- Had a £120,000 Audi imported, wrote it off within a week.

- Had his friend approach girls in a nightclub and say "Balotelli will see you now"

- Sent to the shops by his mother to buy essentials for the house, came back with a giant trampoline and a Vespa and a Scalectrix.

- After the cup final on live TV, he says " I have been sh*t this season, am I allowed say sh*t on TV?

- Was stopped by police going around his hometown of Hulme with £ 25,000 cash in the passenger seat. When asked why he replied " because I'm rich"

- Once broke up with a girlfriend via text whilst she was presenting a live show.

- Slept with an Italian model while his girlfriend was downstairs.

- Drove his car into a women's prison because he wanted to "look around"

- Brought his Ipad on to the bench for Italy's international against the Faroe Islands because he wanted to play games on it.

- Was seen in a Manchester shopping centre "hi-fiving" city fans the day after City had beaten United 6-1.

- Became the face of a firework safety campaign a few days after setting his house on fire from letting off fireworks indoors.

- Hands £50 notes to strangers when out shopping in Manchester.

- Chanted "Rooney, Rooney" at the prostitute who claimed to have slept with Wayne Rooney.

- Italy had just brought out a brand new home kit, at the start of the second half for their first match wearing the new kit, Balotelli came out in the old kit, claiming he didn't like the new one. Nobody else had changed.

- Turned the landscaped back garden of his house into a Quad bike track.

- Went in to Manchester Uni library and tried to pay off all outstanding book fines for everyone.

Some of the others I have heard include him going around Manchester at Christmas dressed as Father Christmas handing out money.

I also heard that he once drove onto the forecourt of a petrol station and told everyone "fill up, I'm paying"

Apparently he paid for a bunch of tramps to spend New Years Eve in a fancy hotel!

He once saw a child out of school and asked him why he was not in school. The child said he was being bullied so Mario drove him back to the school and had a go at the headmaster!

Italians should have shame on themselves for portraying him like this...They should respect him for his contributions to Italian football..What a player!!

BTW she is superhot!!!

Too late,,, She is expecting his child apparently :O(

Anyway back to the topic.. The newspaper article was meant to be humourous but obviously not in good taste.

I suppose Italy, like Poland, Russia and Ukraine are still in infancy as far as understanding and dealing with race issues.
