U seem to be an exception, most others seem to be away from work during working times and days too and most are probably sleeping at home or somewhere else or doing their own side business giving excuses like meetings, gone to meet a client or just taking advantage of the bigger boss being away. Have fun and enjoy the big great holiday of just being out here

There are heaps to do here.. Explore Doha... The hotels offered brunches, you just have to choose which hotel you fancy...

Socialise, that's what most of the expats do here.

Try to build up a friend circle. Take up a sport or a hobby where you get the chance to meet people. There's the Rugby club. They do have a waiting list, but you can go with a member as his guest.

Unlike other places where things happen, here in Doha, you have to take that extra effort to make things happen.

Most hotels offer brunch on Weekends. Best so far I've tried is in Marriot.

Since you are a Brit, "family only" Fridays at the Malls do not cover you so can shop or watch a movie or dine in one of the restos.

You can also hit one of the many beaches here or go fishing.
