Anyone in Advertising?

By Qad

I've started a small yet creative ad agency here in Doha. I'm looking for valuable suggestions or advices in terms of new business, prospective clients, client nature, creative direction, hiring talents etc.

And most important, i'm looking for someone in new business/servicing who is really good... i mean really good!

Hope all the ad junkies will help me out!!!

Cheers,
Thamiz

Here are a few tips:

- If you make create an ad. for any company make sure you take 30 - 50% advance. It's a very important thing, or else alot of companies keep pending the payment.

- Qatar is a fresh market for Advertising, make the most out of it.

- Creativity is at a very low level in this country, not much of an attraction, so try to keep the adverts. simple and classy at the same time. Abstract art is not understood here. You have to be up to the point here.

- If someone gets interested in advertising with you, you will have to keep up to their standards and not go higher or lower than that. Just give them what they want. Most of the GM's here like to give their opinions about the design, instead of you designing and presenting it, they think they know everything.

- If the client says "I want the banner in the middle of the advertisement"... just do it. If he says "I want to put my phone no. on top and cell phone no. at the bottom and POBox in the middle of the design"... just do it.

- Over here, you do not give a time when the ad. would be ready, instead they will tell u "I need this by tomorrow" you might aswell have to do it.

- The Customer is always right here.
