Minimum notice period required to vacate.

I have been staying in my apartment for last 4 months and wish to vacate as its bachelor filled accomodation and now i wish to bring my family next month.

I have given a notice to the company but the company claims that the minimum notice is 3 months. However this is not mentioned anywhere in the contract, there is no termination clause mentioned at all.

The company is claming that this is according to the Qatar rental law that 3 months is the minimum notice period required to be given by the tenant.

Can anyone provide some advice or atleast provide contact details of someone who has legal knowledge.

I am in a big tension, please help.

thanks.

I hear there is a tenant board or comity to help guide tenants through these situations. Ask around on legal advice. Other real estate offices should know. It may be worth a shot

^well i dont mean to generalize but when someone gives a commitment and then breaks his commitments, it becomes unethical and this is not the first time i am facing such betrayal from mallu.

i agree, it can happen with anyone, mallu is not a issue, but thing if its not included and not signed by me, how am i suppose to accept the 3 months notice or the full period as there is no termination clause? the law can easily be manipulated by the owners by not mentioning it.

i thought what is mentioned is to be abided but in qatar, what is not mentioned or is unknown is to be abided by..

I don’t think you can do much on this issue...considering the present situation it maybe difficult for the real-estate co. to get new tenants ..that’s why they are trying to manipulate the contract in their favour.

Do you really think if it was not a Mallu..he would have let you vacate immediately? lol don’t generalize please..

Why don’t you try to get a new tenant for your accommodation and change the agreement in his name after three months?

i am an indian and unfortunately this company is also of mallu indians, when i signed the contract these people gave verbal commitment of 30 days notice and insisted that its a norm in qatar so did not be written down, even though i had insisted the clause to be in the contract but later signed because i trusted their commitments, some lessons are learned the hard way, never to trust anyone, specially mallus, money is everything for most of them. Now these same people say its not written in contract that means its 3 months, we never said one month.

an otherwise good country qatar does not cover tenants from this kind of thugs... :(

Thats really sad, i had a big heated argument with the company as i didnt knew that what is not mentioned in the contract is what is actually applicable.

these cheats take people for a ride by manipulating the law by not mentioning the termination clause and nothing can be done against them... sad... :(

can't bring my family now because can't afford paying for 2 houses. its pathetic condition.

Sorry, if there is no termination clause then it is assumed that the contract is valid for the entire stated period. Your landlord is being moderately kind.

It is good that your landlord is allowing you 3 months, in my case, landlord wants me to finish the entire contract....how irritating.

Everybody sees how you seem, however, only a few know who you are.
