What is the cost of Living in Doha, Salary Level?

Silver Car
By Silver Car

I am a Chartered Accountant with six years of post qualification experience. I am expecting an offer from Qatar (Doha). Would be grateful if you can let me know the package I should ask for to enable me save atleast INR 2 lakhs a month?

I am married and my spouse is homemaker and hence would not be working. We do not have kids at the moment. My parents would be joining me in Qatar.

I plan to rent a 2BHK apartment (semi-furnished) in a good locality in Doha. I will have to bear local transportation, telephone expenses office meal and other incidentals. I would also like to buy a car/take on rent.

Also, please let me know the cost of living standard?

It would be great if you can let me know the average salary a CA with 6 yrs. Of experience is offered in Qatar (Doha)?

Hi,

In Doha, accommodation expenses are very high. Other expenses are bearable.

1. Accommodation: (Furnished, you can also get serviced apartments in this rate. Deduct 1k if you want semi-furnished. Generally accommodation includes Electricity, Water, Garbage, Internet and a Telephone line)

- 1BHK: 5 - 7k

- 2BHK: 7 - 9k

2. Transport: It is a problem here. Karwa are the only authorized taxis and bus service provided by Mowasalat is not very easily accessible. Especially in a weather like Qatar, it is not recommended to look for transport by public bus. Alternatives are that you can hire a driver who would cost you between 600 to 1000 QAR for office pick-up and drop-off for a month (based on distance from office to home). Generally taxis charge 10-25 QAR one way based on the distance.

Buying a car is better than renting a car as car loans are easily available at a very low interest rate.

3. Household (Regular family Groceries, food)

You can consider 500 to 600 QAR per person for this. You will get sufficient groceries in this budget.

4. Local Roaming out:

Again transport is a costlier affair. keep another 300 QAR per person for eating out and movies, parks etc.

5. General shopping: (Cloths etc)

There is nothing much to see in Doha, so usually people spend time in supermarkets doing some shopping. Prices are almost same or little higher than India.

In total to save Rs. 20000 per month and staying with a family of 4 adults, you would require salary around QAR 25 to 30k which is difficult to get here.
