Can you please advise me how easy is it to get a job in Doha and where you would need to look? My g/f and I are trying to work out how to get out, I have been offered a post. Ideally she would like a project management posting too.

would not advise her to come in on a tourist visa to look for work, very hard to transfer a tourist visa to a work visa (to discourage economic migrants from doing the same). Better for her to seek employment whilst still in UK. Or is she does come on a tourist visa and is successful, she will have to leave in order to initiate work visa process.

Best to get married, it is illegal to live together here

Just get married and avoid complication. The law is clear...no such thing as partner status..avoid complications...it is very simple here

Thanks for this

I'm the one working. How would the visit visa work?

When I spoke with the Qatar Embassy they also mentioned that the Ministry of Interior could issue her with a permit to reflect my stay - has anybody heard about this and how does it work?

Apologies for these questions but I only have another three days to confirm the contract.

no such thing...if she holds a british passport she can get visa on arrival, which is a tourist visa...any longer than that will have to be a business visa or visit visa. Business visa are issued by companies for purpose of work, and visit visas can be done by close relatives. Which one are you? :P
