A very good morning to all of you. Hope all are doing great. As we all know that our neighboring country Pakistan is affected with a new wave of flood in southern region, floods continue to cause havoc with water surging from the province of Sindh to neighboring Balochistan.
The number of people affected by the floods, which began nearly three weeks ago on Jul. 22 stands at a staggering 20 million, which surpasses that of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and the January Haiti earthquake.
Up to 3.5 million children are at high risk of deadly water-borne diseases, such as watery diarrhea and dysentery. The flood victims could be on the brink of starvation unless aid agencies step up their efforts immediately to deal with the humanitarian disaster. However, aid agencies cannot act as they would need to unless they receive these valuable funds.
The UN launched a flash appeal for 460 million dollars to try to deal with the consequences of this disaster just for the immediate relief period. The one thing that has not come flooding into Pakistan is international aid. Only half the $460 million needed for initial relief in Pakistan's worst ever floods has been secured after days of lobbying donors and warnings that the country faces a spiraling humanitarian catastrophe, the United Nations said on Wednesday.
It is a great opportunity for us to show our magnanimity towards our neighboring country when they are in trouble especially in this holy month of Ramadan.
Qatar Living Indians Group is organizing a platform for all generous Indians to come forward and show their love and sympathy towards our Pakistani brethren by donating whatever is possible from you in cash. We intend to donate the proceedings to the Red Crescent directing the funds specifically to the Pakistan flood disaster.
QLIG request all our dear members to come forward and donate as much as possible. Donate what you have, if you are in a financial crunch. Remember, this can happen to each and everyone in this world. Few pennies out from our pocket won’t make any drastic change in our budget rather help those poor innocent victims who are dying to get a drop of water.
