There are many factors why an individual get psoriasis or any kind of skin problems. Some says it's hygiene, some says it hereditary, some would say it's because of the diet/food you eat. Some would say it's stress-related or maybe it's all of the above, who knows?

Dermatologist can help but it would be like a trial and error type of treatment as they will give you topical ointments and creams and prescribe a lot of antibiotics and vitamins until they find out what would cure your problem.

How do I know? I went through that problem myself back in my teens and it was stressful. That's why i don't wear skirts...it embarrasses me when people notices the blemishes.

Anyway, what I had then was what they call excema, also a skin problem with same symptoms(itchiness, scaly skin, etc) and what cured it was penicillin injectables. I no longer have the symptoms as long as I watch what i eat (less chicken, eggs, etc).

I'm yet to find a dermatologist or skin specialist in Doha and from the information han19 gave (which I'm very grateful,of course), I'll get an appointmnent right away...I suggest you do too.
