Dont get the Solid State Hard Drive, although acccess times would be fater, its not upgradeable, and you will soon run out of 8GB / 16GB, get the 80gb or 120GB HDD if you can.

Overall its a great laptop, It can run Ubuntu, which is a cost free operating system, and good for most things once you get used to its layout and menu system etc.

Downsides are it doesnt have a CD-ROM, but portable slim line cd/dvd roms are cheap, connecting via usb.

It doesnt have a PCIMA slot, some older hardware used in laptops won't work.

apart from that, its a go, and at a reasonable price too, you can pick one up in qatar for around 1400-1600 riyals which is great value for its size.

People may say "stay away from one brand to another", but thats just from a bad experience, don't let that judge you, acer is a good company, they are just a bit behind on their website for gaining updated drivers, other than that they are generally good laptops.
You basically get what you pay for.

The casing is a little cheap, but for 1400 bucks what can you expect.

Also make sure you get the 1GB RAM model and not the 512RM, as you will soon find your self needing an upgrade. The maximum it can take is 1.5 GB ram.
