I totally agree with you. I love people watching in City Centre (I am the person in Starbucks pretending to read the paper) and often see the "stopover" crowds. These seem to be British people who are en route to Thailand or other exotic destinations. They feel that the holiday has already started and walk around with vests, bikinis and shorts looking for tax free bargains. It is sometimes enough to make you cringe as the western expats I have met here seem to make a huge effort to behave according to the rules. It is a bit like going to Majorca and watching the brits eat egg and chips. (although nothing wrong with egg and chips). I am lucky enough to hold a Greek passport as well as English so can pretend that it is nothing to do with me! Lots of lovely things about the British as well though, the dogs and cats would be lost here without them.
