Salsa in Marriott has live music which is nice, but it (and the recorded music in between sets) tends to played at volumes that prohibit hearing what your table mates are saying. Their ambiance is good, the menu is okay, though I find it limited.
(But WHAT is up with their menus that are like lead folding screens? Seriously...do they think people are going to steal them? They're very cumbersome to even open and look at.)
Palomas in Intercon has a similar limited menu and high prices. Live music starts when the restaurant turns into a club/disco later on. I am actually less fond of this place because of the crowd it attracts for the club who tend to arrive early -- smarmy men, loads of working girls...blech.
Amazing that Doha, in 2009, STILL doesn't have a good, moderately-priced Mexican restaurant. We have a gazillion coffee and chocolate shops, Ethiopian and Caribbean restaurants, but no decent Mex or Tex-Mex places.
Go figure...
Both are overpriced Tex-Mex fare.
