The sponsor can apply for the renewel by paying QR-500/- .....but he will have to submit a VALID reason for the delayed stay outside Qatar to the Immigration Personnel on behalf of your son.

e.g.....A medical certificate by your son or of some close blood relative.

If that can convince the Immigration Personnel, he can get his ID Renewed.....else just forget it.
