Dismiss the previous answer. It's an uninformed opinion of someone who is following the flock.
1. A car is not in investmnent, it is a piece of equipment. If you want resale value, buy shares.
2. If you intend to keep the car for more than 3 or 4 years, relative resale value becomes virtually irrelevant anyway.
2. Consider the relative depreciation of resale value versus the original capital cost, additional interest, maintenance costs etc. and you may be amazed at the outcome.
In short, my own experience: 2006 Kia Sportage V6 bought September 2006.
Current mileage: 42 000
Service cost to date: QR 420 (I had 1st 2 years' service free)
Total maintenance cost to date: Zip, zero, nada, nothing, zilch, you get the picture!!
Capital cost vs. Japanese equivalent - about 26% less at the time. It makes a big difference to your instalment.
Lastly, in Doha, where you have an almost 100% chance of an accident over the course of a few years, my last concern is a few percent difference in resale value.
Oh, in case i forgot, it also came with 5 year warranty and 5 years' road side assistance. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!
