And while you and I might think this is a political issue and not a religious one, I don't think Hamas agrees. The 'anti-semitic, Jews are prophet killers, they can't be trusted, they control the world' rhetoric that they spew kind of belies the belief that they think this is simply a national struggle.
Given this, it doesn't seem likely that Hamas will be a good partner to engage in discussions with Israel about any kind of resolution or compromise to the current situation.
