Victor Bhatt - We’ve reached page 3 because it’s a hot topic – people are viewing and discussion racism and sexism and all other ‘-isms’. On your comment “be modest in your dressing and follow the rules of the land”…. I’ll mention this again…. Is a t-shirt and jeans not modest??? Give me a break!

All – We shouldn’t ban going into malls or creating family day or even the rest of the crap that goes along with it. In fact, I think this family day thing is crap… but you know why they created it??? One of the exact reasons is for what we’ve been talking about here. Everyone should be able to go to the mall when they like… but respect everybody else. Simple. Go in, do your thing and leave.

M.S. It’s a shame you feel you can’t even go out anywhere. You’re missing out on everything in Qatar.

What this all comes down to…. Respect everyone… not just the ladies. I given an example just from shopping….. in some countries, going to an outdoor market is an absolutely EXPERIENCE. You push people, you pull people, you tell them to get out of your way and you argue (very loudly) to get the right price. THAT happens to be what you do in that particular area of the world and that particular scene. Go to Villagio and start doing that and you’ll be kicked out before you’ve even started… Why??? Because it’s not acceptable … they don’t need to post signs to say “don’t push or no bartering” and nor do they need to post signs “do not stare at women like a t-bone steak and you’ve just arrived off a deserted island”… its common sense and simple human courtesy and more specifically – follow the rules of the land (as Victor Bhatt wants to list).

All (including Roadtester with the example of hot-pants last night) – it does not matter what you wear….. you will get leched. Simple. I wear a suit each day and I’m stared at. The fact is – these people (Im not stating a race – Im simply referring to the ‘lechers’) – have no understanding of appropriate handling of themselves from a social situation in a developed country. I don’t see women leching men very much (ok, unless you’re sitting at Irish on a Thursday night and in that case, I might be one of them)…. Why? Because we don’t deem it appropriate in most social situations and have the sense to be a bit more subtle about it and that is BECAUSE we’ve been brought up differently. Perhaps that’s the key…. Subtlety…. They should take ‘subtlety classes’ when they arrive… ha ha ha.

Basically….. Lechers have 2 choices…. Stare ‘discreetly’ (which is what this region is about) or as if it’s a “T-bone”…. But, be prepared that if it’s a T-Bone Stare and you run into me… I’ll do everything short of trying to cancel your bloody visa!.
