I saw this thread a few days back and I knew this would go a long way considering the seriousness of the question and the sincerity of the author who is genuinely interested in the wisdom this answer shall give him. Therfore I decided to give it some serious thought and have come up with an answer which in my opinion is the right one.
EXPAT contrary to popular belief is actually derived from the English(yes, not Latin or Mongolian or even Dravideian) word 'Expatriate' which is inturn a code devised by the freemason Leonardo Di Caprio(yeah thats what the Illuminati called him!) It's actually Ex-Patriot which was coded using the Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex's algorithm into EXPAT. Leo died shortly after the coding and hence could not come up with a plural. One can only speculate what it could be. My best bet would be EXCESSPAT for Excess-Patriot?
"Ali Baba and 40 thieves" are now "Ali Baba and 30 thieves" ; 10 were laid off.
Expat?
