The English language newspapers here don't target the Qataris as an audience. They target the expat population and as such they have a much more international scope of news (or at least they should). They have pages on India, Europe, UK, USA/Americas, etc... (I don't read Al Watan and the other Arabic newspapers but my guess is that they don't do that, at least not as much).
When something like what just happened in Haiti occurs, I expect them to cover it with more than a small paragraph in bottom corner of the front page, and more than just the first day after the fact. This was a disaster that will eventually claim the lives of tens of thousands of people. It is more newsworthy than "fish handling". THAT is my point.
