Changing Jobs in Qatar
Hello.
I am a US citizen with over 20 years of experience who recently moved to Qatar about six months ago. I am currently in a Head of Section position with a well established company. After moving here though, I have seen a number of good job opportunities advertised with other companies and financial institutions on a much higher pay scale.
I was wondering as an expat, if I would be able to apply to these other job advertisements (discreetly) and if the new employer would be prepared to sponsor/transfer me as I am already currently on the sponsorship of my existing employer.
Is that allowed and Okay in Qatar ? Does working in a QP company change the equation ?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
@QLdoha. Even if his employer agrees to release him, he needs to get an NOC from his present sponsor so that the new sponsor can apply for change of sponsorship.
You have explained rest of the things quite well..
You need to be minimum two years with one sponsor to transfer to another. In some cases, one year may do.
If your current employer agrees to release you, then without any other formalities like NOC etc , you can easily transfer.
If your current employer does not allow you to release rather agrees to send you back home and issue you NOC (No Objection Certificate) and your new employer has new visa for you, then you can return to Qatar even after one day of departure.
If you current employer does not allow you to release and dont agree to issue a NOC, then only choice is to leave Qatar and you will be able to return after two years if new employer still have visa and job offer.
Hope it is clear, if more details required feel free to comment or inbox.
Tought Luck brother. You need to spend atleast 1 year with your current sponsor for you to shift jobs (1 year from the date of stamping of your RP under your sponsor).
Secondly, to shift companies you would need an NOC from your current company. This is the toughest part as almost 90% of the companies do not have an NOC policy here.
