1) I am already in Doha on tourist visa. I want to apply for residency permit, through spouse sponsor. Can I apply for a residency permit directly? Or I need to apply for the family visa FIRST, then proceed on applying for the residency permit afterward?

2) How many times can I extend my tourist visa? Some said once and others said twice or up to 90 days?

As I indicated, my spouse is sponsoring me. The question is can I skip the family visa and go straight ahead to apply for residency permit?

Family visa is only for the spouse and children and immediate dependant.
