Leaving Qatar without paying off a Bank car loan

Need your help.

Could anyone explain to me the Qatar regulatons for Expats working in Qatar wishing to leave with a car that was bought through a bank loan.

I heard someone was able to ship his car to his home country two months after buying it through a bank loan in Douha. Is that possible? and how will the Bank get its money if the person decides to quit his job and return home.

every country I ever have lived in, will not even let you take the car across the border if it is still bank owned. That's down right shady like being a theif isn't it?

some countries maybe Qatar is one of them won't even let you out if you owe debts. Or if you try to come back are banned.

Better not take the chance like others are saying and give other expats bad rap

You don't own the car until the bank's name is taken off the ownership document.

As Juhnbug said, you will make life more difficult for other expats, including the continued enforcement of the need for exit permits.

Don't even try to export the car.

Hi, as i am using car under bank loan, i think i can shed some light on this subject. First thing is while registering the car (ISTIMARA), it is jointly registered in both owner and bank's name. Upon clearance of your dues with bank, owner of the car will be issued with vehicle loan clearance certificate by the bank. For claiming independent ownership of car, this certificate is to be taken to traffic department and they will issue new (ISTIMARA) by removing bank name from their list. Until your loan is settled, you cannot either sell or take the vehicle outside the country (even by road), as their system will highlight of bank loan.

Asking the question is not bad, but i hope that is not your intention. Do not take something that you do not fully own it, it is just simply not right. Do the right thing pay off your car, and as most people stated here do not get yourself in trouble.

I agree with the majority, do not risk it. Rules in Doha are tough and you might get yourself in touble for slightest things.

people like that who run away from their obligations are the ones who mess it up for other expats... be responsible, pay for your financial obligations..

Could u plz explain what is NOC.  What if the person would leave on his annual leave and then never go back to Qatar giving that he has already shipped the car out of the Country before.

In other words, How will the BAnk or Qatar Authorities trace the person or the car back when He traveled.

With a bank loan, the car is partly yours and partly the banks.
