Why so long?
I went for an interview in January. Got a verbal job offer during my five day visit. I asked for a slight revision in the offer letter, and still have not received it. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, company submitted my documents for entry visa on Feb. 16th. Any thoughts as to when I might actually get on a plane with a start date?
Thanks.
This question can be precisely answered by the HR departmental head of the company who gave u offer and process all the documents and some airy talks in here is just baseless since no material reality can be coupled with the talks. So just ring them up and ask about it.
Regarding appointment offer this totally depends on how good is the Company HR/ Admin office. If they are smart they can get you within few weeks. (for visa approval again this depends on how strong is your company)2
as a USA citizen, you do not need visa to be issued in advance. you can obtain it upon arrival at the airport, for 1 month. then during this time the company has to start the process of transferring your visit visa to work visa, and then later residence permit will be granted. But if the company and yourself want to make sure that work visa will be approved (which is basically 100%), better wait... how long? God knows..
You have not mentioned the name or sector of the company you have been offered a job. Anyways, for a government or semi-government company it takes a week to obtain a visa approval and for private companies approximately 2 to 3 weeks. Now as your visa request was submitted by the local sponsor on February 16th this confirms that the sponsoring company is pretty sure of hiring you, however, the visa applications are subject to ministry approvals. I suggest to contact the company and ask for your visa application number and you can check the status of you visa online by visiting www.moi.gov.qa click on VISA APPROVAL TRACKING you will get the details.
