What’s the book about?
Reflections on Islamic Art (Available at the MIA gift shop)
Twenty-seven leading Arab and international writers and thinkers reflect on and celebrate the riches of Islamic art in a visually stylish volume produced with the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar and edited by Ahdaf Soueif.
The contributors visited the Museum from across the world.
From seventh-century Qur’ans to exquisite carpets, remarkable portraits and items dating to the present day, the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar showcases one of the finest collections of Islamic art in the world, including some of its rarest objects.
Since its opening in 2008, the Museum, which is housed in an iconic building designed by the celebrated I.M. Pei, architect of the Louvre Museum pyramid extension, has established itself as an outstanding contemporary expression of Islamic architectural tradition.
