How much is the Car Registration Renewal Late Fee

I had to renew my car registration before Aug 18-2009.
I have heard that you need to renew the car registration atleast one month after the expiry date. As its already passed 1 month today (Oct 7- 2009), does anybody know what will be the late fee for this ?
Your quick answer will be highly appreciated .

I just want to say all the above answers are misleading!

I renewed my car 3 months late (May 2013) and the fine is only 500 QR. You have a grace period of 45 days.

You can see the captain if you have a genuine reason (example vacation, parts not available etc), but he may ask you to come back the next day or see another officer in another shift. You can save time by just paying the fine.

It is 45days and I personally witnessed it with a friend of mine renewing after 43days without any late fee. This was done at Airport Traffic Branch.

its not too late still. just walk with your documents to the head police officer in Madinat Khalifa / Old Airport Traffic police & explain them with some valid reason. They can waive this charge for you. They normally waive it if the renewal is before the 3rd month.

the fine is Qrs.1500/-. not a small amount to pay as penalty.
