How to transfer the Insurance of a car?
I recently sold my car. today i went to transfer the ownership of the car but the person told me i have to get my insurance transferred. My car is fully Insured from QIC. I'm sure there might be many on QL who have been through this procedure. May I know what is the procedure? And do they check your original ID?

Go to the Insurance comapny main office. They charge QR20 for transfer.
Dear,
please you take car insurance origional copy and purchaser ID card copy. go to insurance office, tell them for transfer the insurance, they will transfer insurance from your name to new purchaser name,i think they charge Qrs.20/= for this.
with new insurance paper, car transfer paper, your ID card copy and purchaser ID card copy go to traffic police office, than it will transfered to purchaser name.
If it is comprehensive insurance,it has to be transferred.
just sold and bought a car, both second hand. they will not transfer the registration unless the insurance is transferred to the new owner. i paid 30qr i think for the transfer
Yes, my car is third party. I suggest going to a different police dept. and see if they say the same.
I know, but I just came back from the Police Dept. in Matar kadeem an hour back and that is what the official told me. May be the rules have changed or maybe your car was only third party. My car is fully insured.
agree...........you dont have to transfer your insurance when you are selling a car. Might be suddenly the rules have been changed!!!!
The car is insured, not the person, so I don't think you have to transfer the insurance.
When we bought a second hand car it wasn't necessary to transfer the insurance into our name.
