I have been here only 4 weeks, but my experience says with these roads and terrain go for a Toyota or a Nissan.

here in qatar, i think the toyota land cruiser would best fit the roads and sands here...anyways, take a jap car/suv.. good re-sale value..
For the best A/C and durability its Toyota and its best for resale value as well. American cars don't have good resale value.

depends on ur buying power, get a NEW one, it will be GOOD.
Any make of Toyota is superb for AC, 2nd Nissan, 3rd Honda, Japanese Cars are better for Air conditioning. The rest are fairly good as well
