Registration renewal and Eid holidays!

My car's annual registration (Istimara) is expiring on 01-Oct'08 which is a public holiday. Can I continue to drive for a week or so without renewing the registration (istimara), and renew after Eid holidays? Is this legal? Any fines for renewing after Eid holidays? Thanks for the help.

Thank you All .. for your replies. Indeed I am better informed now. Infact in my case, the istemara expires on 01-Oct'08 while insurance expires on 10th-Oct; hence I can renew after Eid holidays .. while insurance would still be in effect. Also i took my car to Tech inspection and it passed in the first shot .. at Wakrah. Great help by everyone. thanks again.

Be cautious about the insurance, it has no grace period. If expires on the same day of the R/P, better renew it today and be protected.

As mentioned by other members you have grace period. If you dont want to utilize it then do it before 1st October.

I think u have 30 days grace perod even after the expiry date on the istemara. You have to get the inspection done first, then fix all the points on which u failed9if at all). Then take the inspection report to the police station, and it should be over in an hour. Be sure to go there early in the morning, and take your ATM card/ Creit card with u. All payments are thru card.
