Went to SARAI last night 31 May 2007

Saw this place a couple of months back when we went for a walk at Villagio Mall , but was not opened yet.

A couple of weeks back, went again to Villagio had a meal at TGI Fiday's and on our way out, enquired with the Sarai staff and were told they were open but do not have takeaway or advance reservation.

So by this time, when we went yesterday, we were pretty excited.

We asked for a table for three (self, mum and sister). We were asked to wait for 15 min. as there were not free tables, from appearances they are usually crowded and you need to be ready for delays in seating. The ambience was great, something different in Qatar. While we waited for a table, had a chance to look around, the flooring, ceiling, walls etc. Wood carvings around the place, doors, wooden celling, aircon concealed in wooden ceiling. Very impressive, only music was too loud, still ok.

The actual meal.

For starter we had one order of Hummus, Mutabel and Sarai Green Salad with small round arabic bread. Very nice. Would give it an "A" french fries (Can't do without them).

For the Main course we had three Mixed grill, which consisted of a Skewer of Lamb, Skewer of Chicken, Kabab, grilled tomato, onion and large chillie, a slice of arabic bread with topping. We also had an order of Lamb Chop, not bad at all. "A" " A+"

Once seated, our order was taken in less than 5 minutes, served in 5 min for starters and about 15 min for main course. The waiters were very busy but we were never in wont of any thing. We needed some bread and just look around and someone is with you to attend. The servings are good, if you are a poor eater, you would do best to share, it was ok for me, but my mum and sister left most of their share. You would need min. Qr.70/- per head. Would rank this place as arabic fine dining due to the price and decor.

After such excellent service and attention, do not forget to tip the waiter, they do not ask, but how else to show appreciation.

Thats my take,

Angelo
