HOW MUCH GOLD CAN I TAKE FROM QATAR TO INDIA

Dear Reader,
I am on a 2 year work visa in Qatar. I would like to know how much gram gold can a Male or Female carry from Qatar to India, in Coin or Biscuit form, without any duty fees.
I know that in ornament form there are limits like Male can carry till 50000 Indian Rupees and Female till 1 lakh Indian Rupees. But I am interested to know in Coin or Biscuit form.
Also please share your experiences at airport about carrying gold to India. I would also be thankful if you can suggest me are branded stores like Kalyan/Malabar Jewellers good or shall I buy gold from Shops at Gold Souq. Any precautions to be taken while buying gold in Doha?

Gold prices vary on a daily basis. The best thing for you to do is visit some gold sellers which are managed by Indians and they should be able to update you on the latest laws of India on gold imports. Take this step say a week before you plan to leave Doha. You can buy gold in any form from any of the jewelers in Doha. You don't need to take any precautions as such. Make sure that you obtain a receipt for the purchase you make and have your name on the receipt.
