2 BBQ tanks and conversion fittings - 490QR??
By Expat Sueño •
I finally got in touch with the "gas guy" to deliver two gas cylinders plus all of the conversion fittings to my compound. I live in the West Bay near the golf course, so it's "far" from town, but it's not THAT far.
The guy wants 490QR for the two tanks and the hose & fittings to allow the tanks to hook up to our purchased-in-the-U.S. BBQ grill.
I had heard that the gas should be ridiculously inexpensive - like 15 QR per tank or something. Are the fittings that expensive or am I being charged a ridiculous amount for his "travel time"?
In case it matters, our "gas guy" is Chandran - 542-9182
Thanks,

It's the bright green kind with sorta black markings on it - looks EXACTLY like the garden hoses we have in the U.S. It's not the light green garden hose that you see in Carrefour & gardening places. Maybe I will take a photo and post it. . .hmmm. Will my two kids leave me alone long enough for that??
two cylinder, regulator and hose, so it's a gas hose, presumably! Maybe Expat can take a picture and show us so we may confirm!

LNG is pressurized, your garden hose will burst
Get those special pipes meant for LNG Cylinders available at all Gas Stores.

then it's not a garden hose. You're safe!

It's a new piece of garden hose, if it matters. I just want to make sure that it's safe to use it and that it won't decompose eventually and blow up the neighborhood! (seriously)
So should I find another type of hose?
Thanks,

If he has used a garden Hose you are in trouble

The guy did show up. He was a bit testy, but he showed up. I purchased two full tanks, a regulator and a hose for 450QR. Now I just need to set it all up. I must admit that I've never seen BBQ gas go through a small-diameter garden hose, but if it works then that's fine!
hopefully the guy will show up today. . .I'm ready to use our grill!
for refill you just need to shell out 15 QAR

New Gas cylinder is 250/- and for refill it's Qr. 15/- per cylinder

thanks for the info t_coffee_or_me
P.S. Where do you purchase your coffee? I hate to go all the way to Moka to purchase it if there is really good coffee elsewhere.
So are the refills less expensive, then. . .or am I paying 250 every time?
Each gas cylinder cost Qr250 Fittings extra
