Best Car Window Tinting

Amoud
By Amoud

I know this has been done, but for fear of looking into the back seat of my car and finding my toddler in a puddle in his car seat I am asking for advise.

I was considering putting Luminar on my windows but dont know which shop does it. Is there anything better for keeping the heat out?

... is 0% on front, back and driver/passenger windows. Rear side windows are allowed up to 70%.

Didn't know you had to register the tinting!!! Typical in this country... make things harder!!!

Now I know who you are Amoud!!! And I am the one who recommended Titanium to you :) ;) xxx

I went to the Titanium shop on Salwa Road. After the Ain Khalid R/A, there is a Kentucky on the right side if you are going up Salwa Road(I think thats the one before the closed Industrial Area R/A) it is on the right hand side about 500 meters from the R/A.

The percentages are based on the darkness of the tint. 10% is allowed on the front windows and rear boot window, and they do up to 70% which is quite dark for the rear passenger windows.I am not sure if you need a permit for the 10%, the guys in the shop can tell you. Titanium comes with a 5 year warranty.

and what is the maximum shade i can get without me needing to hassle myslef with permits? Amoud, what do u mean by under 10% and under 70%???

By Amoud• 1 Jun 2009 08:56
Amoud

Hubby said the permit is easy, just take the registration card to the police station and it costs like 20QR.

I am not sure if you need a permit to do the film under 10%, you would have to check on that. I did my back windows at 70% which I am sure needs a permit.

Do you have to re-register your car after having the windows tinted? We thought you did and that's why we haven't done it yet.

Yeah, the cheaper ones don't keep the heat out like the proper ones do.

I have VKool on one of my cars and Titanium on the other. Titanium is a few hundred riyals cheaper than Vkool, but there isn't a difference.

Beware of fake tints called IamJhonson, because they are just standard tints with a sticker on them to make it look like they are the real thing. (IamJohnson)

Luminar, V-kool, titanium and Johnson are the best. The cheaper window tints only tint the windows, the more expensive stuff helps keep the heat out and cool in. Also, the costly tinting has a 5 year guarantee. If anything happens to it (tearing, bubbles etc0 they will repair it for free.

I went to Titanium today and did all the windows in my Ford Edge for QR 1500. I havent tried it out in the daytime yet but a friend has it and said it makes a huge difference.

what is the advantage of Luminar compared to normal black window tint>>>

I did it with my little hyundai matrix 3 yrs ago, cost 1500 for all windows. Front side and windshield transparant. The reason because I have young kids in the car and he spend so much hours travelling up and down to all his activities.

Yup, just got Titanium done last week after having a Pathfinder for two years. Makes a big difference and got it done for QR1700 and in 45 minutes. Very friendly and I went back the next day as thought I had bubbles in the windscreen. Hate to say it but they were right as disappeared after a week.

Good luck, I got ours because of a newborn as well. Now if only someone could invent something that turned on the air con in the car 5 minutes before you get would be a wonderful combination.

This is a really good question Amoud. I would love to know how you manage, as we are also considering it and could use your advice.

Does anyone know a workshop that does it? How much will it cost for a regular SUV?

:) Thanks to any and all that share their experience..........we too do not want to see our kid in a puddle in the back seat! LOL
