Better rent a car or Buy a car in Doha

Hi,

My company offers me 2200 QR per month for car needs.

I can use that money to rent or buy a car.

If I rent, the only extr cost I pay is Gas.

I was wondering if I buy, what would be the usual annual costs to maintain the car (repair, maintain, insurance etc...)

Do you know a good deals with rental cars company.

Thanks

I found a Kia Sportage 2008 and a Tucson 2008, both for around 50K QR with around 50,000 KM. What will be the one with better resale value ?

Best thing in my opinion is to buy SECOND HAND car. Just work out your overall budget that you wanna spare for car and then buy a 2nd hand car preferably after search this very forum. You can find all sorts of nice cars at very very reasonable cost. Car will be yours without the trouble of getting a loan as well as without hassle of rent. Buying 2nd hand car needs someone really experienced with you so take some of your most trusted and experienced one with you and buy a good 2nd hand car as per your budget. Trust me it really works great for MOST of guys here !

I agree with Mandi. But u know Mandi.....QF is a good company bro. I am sure a new employee will clear his/her probation much easily there.

@Ocean:

If your budget is up to 80K...then you can as well go for Nissan Sentra...or Renault Duster. As a matter of fact...a couple of thousand riyals up or down....you can also go for Honda Accord. All these cars have good resale value (except Duster).

I wouldn't take out a car loan at least until you are off probation.

Thank you Guys !!

I am at Qatar Foundation and they offer help with car loan.

My other question. What is the cheapest brand new family car available. I found I can get a brand new Nissan Xtrail for 75000 QR. Is there any better deal.

As per me, In the long term a new car would be better economically as well as from the maintenance point of view. There are a few hassles like taking it for maintenance whenever required but as per me that is much better than spending much more money per month as a rent for the whole long time you use the car.

If you want a new car...on a loan.......(as per the QCB Guidelines)....you will need to get your loan form signed by your sponsor. In that loan form, there will be an undertaking which says: in case this person defaults on the loan.....the sponsor takes the full responsibility of repaying the loan at his risk.

If your sponsor loves you so much...go present him this form. Be rest assured that you can then start searching for a new job :D

However, I recommend to begin with.......in the first 4 - 6 months, go for a rent-a-car and see how it fares. Then if required....and if your pocket allows, buy a new car. You can contact Country Rent a Car (55440424) for good rates.

Go for new car loan..and no worries for your car maintenance. Car rentals is adviceable only for short time and in car rentals you will lose your money for nothing and in any accident or car body scrathes they will charge you like hell.

If you have the finance available, I would suggest you buy a car preferably a brand new one. It allows you to recover part of your money when you sell it.
