@ whyteknight, nice try mate!...to clarify,i AM a layman compared to you when it comes to lighting & laymen call this a BLACK LIGHT...if you don't want to admit it,that's your call mate...
Oh jeez, I give up... Call it whatever you want.. When I called you layman in the field, you got upset.. Now you want me to consider you as layman in lighting.. Whatever you say is the gospel truth sir.. Now spare me...
@ wk...does the term lateral thinking ring a bell somewhere mr. lighting professional?...probably not is my safe guess...it's called a black light for the simple reason that the bulb is black in colour, that's just common sense, don't need to be a anything professional to know that...if you truly knew what he was referring to & were actually a lighting professional that thought OUTSIDE the box, you'd have the common sense to know that us NON LIGHTING PROFESSIONAL people refer to it as a BLACK LIGHT...'cos the bulb is black,simple...
Allow me to put it in context...you would call it a tooth,i'd call it an incisor,a canine,a pre molar or a molar...BUT i wouldn't kick up a fuss because you didn't use the technically correct word for it...it's a black light mate, that's what non-professional lighting people around the world call it...NOT because it emits black light but because the bulb is black in colour...
BTW,the wiki link was merely to show that i'm not the only one that calls it a black light...you can't master ANYTHING on the internet at least nothing that's free,it's just a source of information,i figured that a while ago mate...*wink*!
Black Light Blue light bulbs are mostly used for novelty applications. Often used in nightclubs and stagelighting, fluorescent and neon colors "glow" under this kind of light.
gadarene I am a certified lighting professional. You can rely on wiki for it but it doesn't exist. I don't see any point in arguing with you over it either since you obviously think one page of wiki is enough to make you a master of it. I wonder why I have wasted 4 years studying lighting, could have just done a quick search on wiki to become a know-it-all.
I know he was talking about UV lights as they are commonly referred to as black lights and have already told him where to get it but we avoid calling it as such since it isn't really black.
@ whyte knight...in case you didn't realize, you're the "layman" here!!!...it's called a BLACK LIGHT all over the world,i've sent you a link explaining exactly what it is,which i'm sure you read but conveniently chose to ignore...
You obviously never knew it was called a black light, which is fine but please don't get offensive about your ignorance...
@ edifis, you can get anything you want, you just have to have the brains to look for it...alternatively, if you don't have a brain, you can just wait for someone to post you a link!...watch your teeth as you pull that foot of your mouth! *wink*!...
@ catalystvhai,i've posted a link from a credible source that clearly explains what a "black light" is so if you would be so kind as to post a link (from a credible source NOT some dubious unknown website) that counters that claim & states clearly that a black light doesn't exist...please & thank you!...
it does exist - black lights. They are used in concerts as light special light effects. It makes the white color glow in the dark & some luminous colors if reflected by it.
/a-t/gadarene may b u skipped grade 10s physics..Hw can black light exist ..its black whn dere is no light ..Dose r called UV lights n not black lights ..

Ite depends on what size blak light you want and what you will use it for. Black lights can be used to diagnose ringworm so QAWS has a small hand-held blacklight that wwas bought in the UK and brought over by a volunteer. If you're looking for strip lighting then go to one of the lighting shops. However, if you're looking for a small light for use with special inks etc then you might be better off buying one online.
tahami for what you are looking for... Drive down Salwa Road, going from Ramada Signal, after Decoration Roundabout you will see a board on the left TechnoQ right opposite Mercedes Showroom, check with them. I am sure you will find it there.
Well i bought 2 - Sets of Tube Lights (UV) which are 4ft ones for 100QRS each. This shop is located by the Arab Bank Street. But i bought it long long time ago. Let me re-check and I will get back to you on this soon. Cheers

I think he is referring to UV Party Lights that make the white glow to Blue. Is you are asking about Party Lights normally used in Game Arcades, Party Halls, Bars etc.. Look for them at a Shop Called Dubai Lights. You will get the Tube Ones that cost about 100QRS that work on a standard Tube light Fitting.
It's quite funny reading people's reactions here! :)...people please,if you've never heard of the thing(in this case a black light),don't take out your ignorance on this guy who just asked a legitimate question!!!...
