boycott city centre

I went tonight in city centre to shop and have some dinner with my friends. I found out that they already started collecting parking fees, on my way inside the mall  i saw a billboard standing infront of their entrance and i just glance the amount of parking fee which i saw its 2 riyals for the 1st hour and 3 riyals for the remaining hours. So i said that its ok its just a little amount and i saw some improvement in the parking lot.

We spend 3hrs and 2 mins to be exact inside the city centre wich it shown in our bill parking fee.Which i think its normal if you will shop eat and roam around inside the mall so going home at parking I gave 10 riyals and i was shocked when the parking boy told me that the amount is 18 riyals!!!!! OMG come again? I thought i heard him wrong so i told him to repeat but i heard correctly its 18 riyals!

I asked him why its 18 riyals? So he explain the 1st hour is 2 riyals, the 2nd and 3rd hour is 3 riyals = 8riyals. And the 2 mins is 10 riyals! I was very shocke that the 2mins is more expensive than 3hours!

I dont know why the ,management of city centre is implementing this silly and crazy policy. They should not ask for any parking fee from their customer because it should be part of their service to have an available parking slot for their customers. We shop,we eat inside the mall and we are spending money already and how come that they are still asking for an overprice parking fee it should be a complimentary to their customer am i right?

If you will notice if you will go to citycentre people are very less now compare before, before when the parking fee is free.

So tonight this will be the last time that i will go to citycentre until they awill stop asking fo an overprice parking fee, i will prefer to go to villagio or landmark whose valuing their customer and not charging any dirhams to their customer for the parking fee.

ALL OF US SHOULD UNITE AND BOYCOTT CITY CENTRE FOR THEM TO REALIZE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO THERE CUSTOMERS.

Thanks

try to think maturely and analyze where you made a mistake?  That 10 riyals charge is already there, it's up to you whether to stay longer or trip to the limit of each hour?Is this subject surpise anyone else? Wait 'til you experience paying parking for public places or roads? Go to Business Districts of different countries and you'll know that CC is very much acceptable?

I've only been there twice. Once to Qtel to get my sim card and the second time I to buy some shoes/cologne and a burger. Both times I caught a limo lol.I couldn't drive here, it's craziness amplified.

What they City Center should do is ---1. Charge "Parking fee" from customers parking below...2. Give "Parking Slip"3. Make arrangements with "Shops" and "Business houses" in City Center to give refund when the Customers produce the "Parking Slip" --- Discount amount excat amount of parking fee - This can be enabled thru a electronic parking card, which cannot be tampered and manipulated. - Valid only for one-day.4. Refund the "parking-discount" to respective shops on a weekly basis.Benefits: This will increase the commitment of people who are parking to make business with shops in City Center. Reduce the "parking-only" crowd.Struggle: A system should be in place. All business houses in City Center should agree and should co-operate in the implementation of this process.

I did not go to City Center for a long long time but I did this week. It's a totally differrent experience. I paid 2 rials for a quick shopping and it worth it. It's a computerised system, so your last 2 minutes cost you 10 rials. Nothing wrong with it.

It is just fair enough to have a parking fee, but to avoid confusion of some customers, why not implement at least a standard price per hour. It would be easy for customers & for the collector to compute unlike the ongoing fee which is .......2 riyals for the 1st  hour, 3 riyals each for the 2nd & 3rd hour. The 4th & the suceeding hours will be 10 riyals each.1 hour = 2 riyals2 hours = 5 riyals  3 hours =  8 riyals4 hours = 18 riyals5 hours = 28 riyals6 hours = 38 riyals & so on.....

The fee is too much..

But it's It's nice to have plenty of parking ..

I know that people from my work are parking there during their work hours!! So this will stop this.

I don't think that this will stop the shoppers from going there .. most people don't spend much hours inside anyway..

I think city centre has made a good solution after years of miserable parking hunt stories.

If there was some mistaken then you can complaining to the management.

I dont mind to pay parking fee since the parking is available rather than has to spend my time like in driving school and sometimes i have to go out for nothing coz of this parking availability issue.

i support city centre policy.

I'd say we should boycott it till they bring down the rates, since the charged parking itself isn't exactly a bad idea. But then, the only time I went there in the last 6 to 8 months was because of Applebees, Cc hardly beats Villagio. Better way (hate driving in the cornich's traffic, better looking, better cinemas, Le Notre & Zara, Massimu Dutti & P&B, I don't see why I'd still go to Cc honestly.

City center, well u could've just went ot the information booth in the middle and gotten ur tickets stamped, if u spent 100 riyals u would've gotten 2 hours free and paid only for the 3rd hour.

As i'm also annoyed from the silly new fees, i still agree with it since a lot of poeple are parking their car there when they are working in another building .. However, if i don't wanna pay i easily park my car on the opposite side and smoke a cigarette till i reach to the door which take less than 5 mins walking.I save my money and i burn more calories. in both cases I won. and i still went to CityCentre and enjoyed my day. When something annoy you try to respond instead of reacting.

@ragfileexpat yeah your right even you exceed seconds they will charge you 10 riyas on the 4th hour! Is it fair?! you dine in,you shop, you take your groceries and yet they will ask for overpriced parking fee?!

they can charge for the parking but it has to be fair...10 riyals for an extra 2 minutes is just way over fair pricing.

OMG what are you saying that this move of the management is for good of their customers?! 10 riyals on the 3rd hour and every hour you will pay 10 riyals? for example you will spend 5 hours or 6hours in CC you will pay 48 riyals?! This move is abusive and unhumanitarian! They should stop it while they still have customers! Boycott Citycentre and go to Villagio or Landmark!

First of all, parking should be free because its part of the services of the mall.. It's like eating in a restaurant and they have to charge you a rent/fee for using their plates & utensils, its pathetic... Second, that's the dumbest computation I heard so far, even great mathematician would disagree to that... lolz

By yfon• 9 Aug 2011 08:54

before, people complained due to lack of parking, now people complained due to parking fee.

my opinion, lets give the CC administration enough time to establish and wi"ll see the difference, i think it's for our own good.

we have experienced in villagio,2 times we gone their and we spend too much time rounding looking for vacant parking and we witness/saw angry drivers shouting and even go out of their cars nearly kissing and pushing each others.

we ,the costumer have always the option not to go or go but not to boycot.

back to the topic, as cherukan said: the parking is to stop the parking of staff or employees of the near by towersand buildings but again the customers are affected with this implimentation. In one way, its somewhat easy to find a parking after this system and in other way it many will avoid going there....But still, one who likes to go will defo GO no reason wat they have to pay....:)

Guys, City Centre is doing it to stop the parking of staff or employees of the near by towers and buildings but it should not be completely levied on the customers. They have instructed all tenants to buy a validation machine for Qr. 5000 which will allow their customers to park for 1 hour free of charge.

However, this will be creating some traffic jams in the exit gate during peak time and I have no idea how they are going to tackle it. Customers who are going to the cinema and restaurants should be considered otherwise they will think of moving to another mall or location where they can park free of charge.

LP & RIZKS, ARE YOU GETTING TO EACH OTHER'S NERVE OR IT JUST THE WAY YOU COMMUNICATE/DEAL TO EACH OTHER?

BY THE WAY, CITY CENTER'S PARKING FEES IS TOO EXPENSIVE THOUGH.

The City Centre Mall is not a public building, the owners are entitled to charge for parking, just as they could charge for the toilets if they wanted. Just like they charge rent to the tenants in the Mall. Its a business. What they have achieved is a Mall that we can now go to and find a parking space. Spaces being taken by shoppers who will spend some money with the Malls tenants.I think its a great move. By the way, don't you also pay for parking at the Airport?

Once with our kids me and my husband went to City Center. After a great effort we parked our car besides a huge 4 wheels and we were shocked to see the drama going on in the car between some boys...I mena how can they do that kind of stuff in public parking place but we were there at 6.30 pm evening time...I have heard from people that now u get immediate place when u go there...not like earlier merry go rounds around the already parked cars....there there there....offo he took the parking....go go go go go...u misse dit again....hey he is going he is going he is going....see see see his lights are on......u go down with one kid and find the place and than kid will reserve the place and we will drive upto the parking....My God it was such scene to get a parking over there....

I understand your feelings and get your point about the 10 QR fee. But no matter what you say, there will still be people who find City Center amusing enough to pay the fee.

I for one don't... It simply isn't worth the hassle. I'd rather go to Villagio or Landmark.

PS - Some eateries/Fitness First might stamp your parking ticket to get you a discount/waive the fee. Simply ask.

its really good infact..coz it will also stop all the extra loitering around and plus...i for once was never able to find any parking over there...atleast it will be a breather now!!  and it's a fact, new implementations are usually not appreciated by masses!!but with time everybody gets used to it!  plus, once we went quite late at night, there were groups of boys sudanis...and others mix...there were kind deep into 'something' and officials had to come and 'eject' them...i guess it will stop all that nonsense too.
