Drive or Fly to Dubai

I've been reading through some posts and noticed lots of comments about going to Dubai for various reasons.....how do you get there??

I know you can drive and you can fly....but when you drive, you have to pass through a part of Saudi, right?? Is it a hassle to drive? How long does it take? Do many people drive, or do most opt to fly? Thanks!

Did u get the visas in advance or is it possible to get visas, for both saudia and UAE at the border?which passport were u travelling on?

If i fly without my husband, will the visa be issued at the airport?

AS krok said the advantage of driving is that you have your own transport. It would take you approximately 9-11 hours to reach dubai

including the immigration works in Saudi and UAE.

I know many people who have flown there. No one seems to want the hassle and uncertainty of crossing through Saudi. I'm told you have to get your visa in advance and some nationalities have a problem getting one. I don't know anyone who has driven there.

we drove to Dubai a few weeks ago, in convoy with 2 other cars. Despite warnings that we were taking our lives in our hands, being reckless, etc, it was a VERY safe, problem-free drive. The biggest hassle was arranging visas - but only because we left it too late.

Flying definitely involves less hassles, but the advantage of driving is that you have your own transport there, so it all depends on what you want out of the trip...

Whichever you decide, good luck...
