Fake Mileage on selling car
By celebratedoha •
Dear QL Friends,
Please be aware that there are soo many cars sellers are cheating buyers by changing speedometer in order to reduce the mileage. As I have experienced recently, I sold my car Nissan Xtrial 2002 Model (plate no. 238473, Green color) when its mileage was above 210,000km and now that car is available for sale in QL with 106,000km!!! Click this link http://www.qatarliving.com/node/2666611. Please share if anyone has the same incidents… Take care…

Just to add, if you are going to ask the company to check the last recorded mileage for you, make a note of the chassis number too, in case the car has had a new registration number for whatever reason.
If anything, it's easier to "clock" a car with an electronic digital mileometer; As long as you've got the software you can just plug your laptop into the diagnostics port of the car and alter the mileage to suit your needs. The kit isn't cheap but id you're selling lots of cars it can soon pay for itself.
To clock an old-style mileometer you need to get inside the instrument pod and either change the speedo head entirely or wind back the clock manually.
My advice echoes that above: Get in touch with the company and ask them what the last recorded mileage was.
But let's not forget: A higher mileage car that has been looked after, maintained and serviced properly can be a better purchase than lower mileage car that has been neglected.
I also believed it cannot be changed but only came to know about it when one of my colleague was trapped in such a thing.I always wonder why somebody has to hide the plate number while putting the ad,it is one of the most transparent way by which one can check the car details.if QL had made it compulsory this would be much better site.
Its possible to change mileage even if its electronic. Its pretty common among the sale agents here, i was interested in buying a suzuki sx4, mileage on the car showed 63,000km when i checked with the dealer, in their records it had done in excess of 150,000km. If the car has been serviced regularly at dealer you can get the mileage, if it has notbeen serviced at dealer then again, u can't know.
I am not aware how the records are maintained for car inspection for istemara and how can it be checked.
Dear Friends,
Let me clarify your queries:
1) There were some other photos attached with his ad showing the plate number. http://www.qatarliving.com/node/2667405
2) Most of the cases, you can feel when you make test drive. OR, you can verify with Any authorised dealer (Spare parts sales centers or showroom) OR, our mileage will recorded every time when you make Vehicle Inspection for Isthimara renewal.
3) I believe, Admin is closely monitoring all our posting, so they should take appropriate action by themself.

thanks for inform
as far as i know the mileage reading counter can't be changed if it is electronic (digital display)
Only the only way to check correct mileage is through the car agent.
Thank you for your honesty.
I hope that you can reach the administrators of the QL website and ask them to block this cheat.
Friends, Pls. let me know is there any way to check Fake Mileage on selling car!
