Fast Food , and Qatar

I have been here for almost a week now.

I have lived in Dubai , and I have lived in Bahrain.

I have realized that Qatar dislikes US , and therefore does not franchise fast food restaraunts, depsite having the money.

Bahrain , a poor nation , has all these US franchises , like New York Fries, Fat Burger , Charlies , Boston Pizza ? And the economy in Bahrain is really in the hole.

Dubai , same thing , tons of fast food restaraunts.

I do not udnerstand why Qatar doesnt venture in Fast food? why are the options limited?

Wow I think I am living in dream world then when I see all the same American restaurants here as back home ..... And I dine in them? Maybe I am asleep it's not real?

Strange post, give yourself more then a week to learn Qatar before you ass ume Qatar doesn't have all the best American restaurants and 2 USA bases, and over 8000 Americans here to love.

Wish there was Olive Garden restaurant though. That's not fast food. It's great food best eaten with good friends of all cultures.

I understand all those american restaraunts you mentioned , but those are all common in the middle east , every GCC countery has those restaurants , its the additional restaraunts that count.

KRISPY KREME , SHUT DOWN IN QATAR??? SERIOUSLY?

MacDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Johnny Rockets, Benigans, Chili's, Applebee's, Ponderosa, Red Lobster, Hardees, Fudruckers, Dunkin Doughnuts, Krispy Cream, Yellow Cab, Papa John's, Stabucks, Pizza Inn, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut (and the list goes on)--

Way too many American fast food/American chain's options in my view.

By HeniHuDz• 7 Oct 2012 12:13

I've read Qatar has many fast food places like Pizza Hut, McD's, Chilli's, Applebee's, etc so why say there aren't any? I think better option would be skip the American fast food and try something local -- probably cheaper and better for you!

By britexpat• 7 Oct 2012 12:08

So, a country hosting the largest US Army base in the Middle East can only be regarded as Pro American if it opens fast food outlets :O)

Damn those Frenchies too ..

By Rizks• 7 Oct 2012 12:07

Its more about demand rather than "Like / Dislike" of a particular culture.

If they really disliked American, there wouldn't be Chili's, Applebees, Fuddruckers, Red Lobster and other famous US brands here at all.

Please be patient and sooner or later, those brand's that you are saying will sooner or later be opened here...

I'm still waiting for a Tony Roma's to be built here...

By christinatroni• 7 Oct 2012 11:53
