Furniture Shopping - IKEA?
Hey guys,
I've been looking to get a few pieces of furniture. I hate the old fashioned stuff available at Home Center. Their modern collection and classic collection looks to be the same.... I love the stuff at IKEA. I can't put my hopes on the store that has been rumored to "open soon" in Doha from the past 5 years. But I heard from some people that the store in Dubai offers shipping to Doha in association with Aramex. Any of you tried this out? Will the cost for shipping end up being more than 50% of the items cost? I would appreciate any inputs.
Thanks.
Thanks for bringing this up - i'm also quite intrigued to know if/when Ikea will be opening. office refurbishment

I wish I have read this topic before December, 2009. Because i can help you buy the items there and deliver it here through a cargo shipment and you will just pick them up at the airport in doha. Well hope to bet back a job there and will help you with your problem. I can buy and send for you any items u want from ikea. They have good products there in Riyadh.
We drove there and shopped, they do answer and speak English so you can call and ask if they ship to Doha from Dammam.
ikea is on a 5yr rolling plan.
Well, I don't believe, Ikea will be opening soon - one day, it surely will, but not tomorrow :-)
I got some really nice stuff from The One for sale - Dinner table, a (very cool) coffee-table, a side-board (matching to the dinner-table), a book-case from ID Design another (very nice) rack on wheels also from ID Design.
Send me a message if you're interested.
Yes, I know it's closer drive from Doha to Dammam. But I don't want to be bringing back all the items in my own car. I wanted to know if the IKEA in Dammam uses landfreight with aramex to deliver to Doha like the store in Dubai does. Anyone know about it?
MRST2009, the store in Dubai ships to doha with help of aramex. The transportation charges will be extra. Not sure how much the charges are though. If it's even upto 50% of the item cost, it will still be worth buying it, rather than getting something from here.
Its just a 4 hour drive from Doha to Dammam.
Or wait for the Friendship bridge that way you can reach Dammam in 2 hours
if you get any news about a store here or how can we order pls PM me..
thanks
I know they have most of their pieces in flat packing. So even bigger pieces shouldn't be a problem. But I'd prefer to just get it delivered to Doha and not have to deal with driving up and down to Saudi.
Does anyone know if the IKEA outlet in Saudi also delivers to Doha like the one in Dubai?
Apparently quite a few people are now driving to the IKEA in Saudi, buying what they want and then bringing it back in over the border. I guess if you're looking for larger pieces it could be a bit more difficult unless you hire a truck for the day!
I'm trying to persuade hubby to drive me to get some new bits and pieces for the house...
Thank you arien for digging up my lost post. They will probably not open here because a lot of Furniture businesses will not be able to compete with good quality at "non cut-throat prices".
Ikea is cool. wonder why they are not opening an outlet in Qatar.
I guess I need to bump this since it didn't show up in new forum topics ?
Anyone?
