Good digital camera
Can anyone give me recommendations on a great digital camera? I have the little Cannon sureshots, but I looking for one that is bigger, with a zoom of at least 12x, fast flash reset time and high quality shots. I may consider a SLR camera as long as an ameteur like myself can work it- I'm willing to spend the time to learn it.
I don't want to spend more than $750 (US dollars) or 2700qr.
Any suggestions?
No point and shoots. I have spent too much money on these $100 cameras. I need a semi-professional level camera.

Cool thanks Vivme!
I saw a deal at Carrefour for a Canon DSLR with a bundled 70-200 lens for 2999 which is still within your budget.
Apologies I don't remember the model because I am more a Nikon guy
Nice! Marines75, do you use an extra lens on this or as is?
Good price, too- I can a buy a nice bag for it with the money left over.
Get a canon 1000D/1100D/ or Nikon D3100. most of them come with a 18-55mm lens, which doesnt give enough zoom. If they dont provide u free telephoto zoom lens, use the remaining amount of ur budget to get an additional 70-300mm Sigma lens which will cost around 600 QR.
Try the canon 1100D, it is within your budget, and I can guide you how to use this camera. (I think this is available in Carrefour).

Thanks! Is there a fantastic model that is slightly over my budget? I don't want to miss out on an extraordinary camera by a few dollars.
I was figuring I would have to pay $500-$1,000 for a top notch camera that will last me years and take great photos.
Nikon (D3100, D5000, D5100) or Canon (EOS 1000D, 1100D) entry level DSLRs are good. They are within your budget. They are available at Carrefour, Virgin, and other stores. Some bundled with extra lense, bag, memory card and bag.
Cheers!
Nikon D3100
Canon S95 is awesome. Nice compromise between small camera but with great manual control and high quality pictures.
