Good stoneground whole wheat flour?
By Expat Sueño •
We like to make our own bread, but have not found good-quality stone-ground whole wheat flour. We like the stuff that has texture to it and has a nice brownish color to it. The only "whole wheat" flour we've found is either super-fine (some sort of Indian flour) or is actually white (go figure).
Does anyone know where we can find good flour? We've looked at MegaMart and the prices are ridiculous - something like 45QR for a small bag (maybe a kilo, if that). . .and we don't even know if it's good quality.
Any thoughts? It definitely exists here because Bateel's churns out some decent bread. . .but where to find it. . .
Thanks,

ugh!!
So where is Bateel's finding their flour? Their bread isn't the best I've ever had, but it is decent. We'd be willing to purchase a 50# bag if need be.
same with buckwheat... cant find anywhere in Doha...
Nothing remains the same, and everything will change at some point.
Whole wheat flour is absent in this part of the world...
Wonder why.....the flour available here is White flour called maida which is not good for health but still widly used here....especially to make Kuboose.
There is a lot of rice import from India but no wheat import neither from India or from Pakistan. Why? No Idea.
The North Indians have a hard time here finding good wheat to make chappaties. But they pretend Kuboose to be roti (chappatis). Its like eating rice instead of pasta.
And is there a (wheat) flour mill here in Qatar? I dont think so!!!
