Hardware stores? Computer / electronics stores?
Hello,
We're new to Doha, and new to QatarLiving. We have been taking advantage of the holidays this week to look around the city.
A couple of questions come to mind. Where might I find a hardware store? How about computer / electronics (parts) store?
(please don't refer me to Jarir Bookstore :) )
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for very good information on electronics stores that will be more valuable and interesting. one can easily get benefited from this store.

Carrefour for computer stuff is not a good idea. Overpriced and a major hasssle if you need to return it. If I could rate the tech. knowledge of salespersons, Sofitel would be 4 on 10, Carrefour would be close to 0.
You can go to City Center and check what you need. Usually most of what you need you can find it at Carrefore.
Thanks so much. I can now set off with confidence to find both the computer shops and the hardware stores.
I even did a search here that turned up a post from a year and a half ago that had a map. With the map, the directions, and the advice........I'm good to go!
I'm glad I found this website and this forum.
From the Corniche exit at the Clock Tower roundabout and go to the Dhow/Arab (/Boat) roundabout. A right turn at this r/b will put you very close to Sofitel Hotel (now called the Grand Mercure).
Once of the entrances is right next to the hotels main lobby entrance. It'll lead you to a little mall with two levels of computer shops.
Don't expect any technical help from these shops. Most of them know very little about products that they sell. It's okay as long as you know what you're looking for.
There are hardware stores in the old Souq Waqif. There's a really good souq map in Marhaba. For Souq Waqif, you can take the Corniche to Jasim Bin Mohammed Street, located next to the huge white palace looking place. Go up behind there and take a right on Al Jasra Street the souq looks like an old middle-eastern market place. Newly renovate to look older and more traditional. It's a nice place to walk around. Some nice souvenir shops and sweets/nuts shops there too. Most close from 12-4pm.
kai,
Thanks for the response. Where is the souq, and where is sofitel?
I really am new here. I have a map.
Maybe you could give me some idea how to get there, say, from somewhere prominent like the Coniche road?
go to sofitel in souq
happy new year
