There are limited books in Qatar. Bestsellers from home are usually available. But do not expect them to always be there right when they are released. They also are more expensive then at home. I bought a kindle before moving here a year ago and it was the best thing I could have done. You can download whatever you need and also supplement with books from Jarir or I-spy. The Virgin stores in Villagio and Landmark malls are more expensive and have less selection. When you travel to other places on holiday get a few books in the airport to help out as well. There are also lots of people around who have books to lend you, ask around someone will be willing to share!
Finding a good bookstore in Qatar is like looking for haute couture in Appalachia.
There are none.
Virgin (Villagio).
Jarir (Salwa and Rayyan).
Family Bookshop (Merqab).
I-Spy Bookshop (City Centre).
None of these even remotely qualify as 'decent' bookstores.
After nearly 2 decades here, books are still the thing that I continue to have to order from abroad and ship in. I don't even bother checking shops here for stuff because I know from experience they won't have what I'm looking for.
So don't plan on finding any even modestly good book shops when you come to Doha.
there is not even a single store in westbay...anyways its a haunted place :P hehe....well westbay is a nice place to stay but doesn't have any bookstore ...as Smokey said the only bookstore you find here is on Salwa road and that is "jarir Bookstore"
