Iphone 3Gs

The Fastest iPhone Ever
The first thing you’ll notice about iPhone 3GS is how quickly you can launch applications. Web pages render in a fraction of the time, and you can view email attachments faster. Improved performance and updated 3D graphics deliver an incredible gaming experience, too. In fact, everything you do on iPhone 3GS is up to 2x faster and more responsive than iPhone 3G.

Are you getting one?

Where can i get one?

greentea - Yes, a lot of people "jailbreak" factory unlocked (or even locked to carriers) iphones to install apps from Cydia. Just be cautious about what you install from Cydia though. Some themes and other stuff available on Cydia have caused stability issues. In general, there is nothing wrong with Cydia and most of the apps available on it.

And you can get rid of it any time by doing a full restore.

there are so many iPhone 3Gs sellors on the classifieds, some are priced at QR 1500!!!

are these real or scams? anyone bought from them?

Most of these have overseas phone numbers, suspicious..

i wrote to some of them, and they confirm that its the genuine article.

at ajinpt:

haha i feel like laughing at u mate, you don't even about camera megapixels, did u think that megapixels are some sort of rating as to how good a camera is.

heck i have chinese camera's boasting about 15 megapixels in their phone.

megapixels is the number of pixels in the pic.

Just having more pixels doesn't mean that the pixels will have the same color and shading.

Dude do u know that even in the latest iphone file sharing is not enabled, only pairing with blutooth accessories is allowed.

i agree it might be a dealbreaker for some.

Nokia is good in its own league that is value for money and it blows iphone out of that segment, but when it comes to high end sets nokia sucks in its market penetration.

now don't let me get started on nokia's ugly features and its so called flagship N97

Qatman - Of course not all phones are affected, that would lead to a fairly quick recall by Apple. There was some talk about a batch of bad batteries as the probable cause, combined with certain usage patterns.

Nice detailed review of the 3GS on Anandtech here : http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3595

I and a friend of mine got it thru ebay. The iPhone delivered was sealed in the original box and was factory unlocked. PM if you need details about the seller.

Well it seems the heating issue was not an issue after all. I now have a 3GS (factory unlocked.) been using it more than an hour without it being hot.

So, I'm currently sat in the Airport lounge, listening to MP3s on my Nokia N86 - WOW! What a phenomenal sound ... it's even drowning out the two screaming brats at the next table :o)

I'll try and send you their picture from my 8mp camera ;o)

Apple has its own share of issues, like

http://mantia.me/blog/macbook-pro-thousands-of-colors/

Like you said, it could go either way. Ultimately, it might be a small minority who may get affected. And one concern is that we live in close to 50degrees celcius place (for couple of months a year, thankfully).

I just upgraded my 2g iphone with the latest 3.0 OS. wow, what a difference. who needs a 3Gs, just upgrade the OS of the old 2g, u'l only lose the 3g connectivity. without video calls it is anyway useless.

my 2g can record video's as well, there is an app for that called iphonevideo recorder. (www.iphone-recorder.com)

iPhone is the best. no matter what nokia comes up with, it will never beat the quality of the iphone audio.

anwarpp, well in that case all we can do is wait n watch. I would never trust the reviews of PC world, especially when it concerns Apple. The Advisory issued by Apple is the operating temperatures under which iPhone must be used. This is seen as Apple acknowledging the heat problem by some reporters. A week from now, we should know for sure if this is a serious issue which I very much doubt.

Kinda hard to believe that completely.

1) We never heard about this issue with the 3G. If it was, it was at a much smaller scale.

2) Apple took the trouble of inserting a heat warning page, which is a clear indication they knew about this for the 3GS.

3) This is reported as personal experience by reporters of major tech publishers (not just some blogger somewhere). For example : http://www.pcworld.com/article/167495/apple_iphone_3gs_overheating_reports.html

Wow...just about how many useful apps can you use on your Nokia? And if you plan on buying an application, how much would it cost you?

It's not that Nokia is too techie...but it's very basic and common. Imagine Macintosh and Windows. Very few knew about Macintosh because of it's price, but once you get your hands on a Mac, there really is no turning back. I'm a Tech Junkie eversince, but i was never impressed with Nokia. It's like Windows XP and Vista Upgrade...'you would just say...wow...an upgrade. that's just about it.

It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!

Guys, I dont say I phone sucks, but its not worth , wen u compare it with Nokia N97. I guess N97 is too techie for u to compare wth an iphone, U cud try that with n95 or n96 even. Its some micros faster in app. launching and dazz the only thing u can boast about. Do u really think its'3 MP cam is better than a 5 MP, Then they cud've called it a5 Mp instead. Tell me abt its bluetooth file sharing idea, which they thought practical only a few months ago.:-) and I rem my 6600 even, in those days had that bluetooth working perfect. Yeh I'm a Nokia Fan boy, jzz coz its a practical and useful and a value for money device. I suggest I pone if u want to spend an extra money for ur I pod or Video POD or wtever..Now I'm jzz waiting to put ma hands on the technology n97..;-)

---If you can't CONVINCE them, CONFUSE them!!!

By anwarpp• 4 Jul 2009 12:22

Not meant to be total discouragement, but just something to be cautious about. The summer temperatures in Arizona is comparable to the GCC, and may shed enough data points to see how bad the issue is.

It is sure that Apple knows about the problem, that is why they decided to add the temperature warning screen.

I agree with your point.. on the Nokia that u have.. Its by far the best phone.. Its serves all the purpose.. from Office Appliactions to Personal stuffs like Music, Games, Movies etc.. Not to mention.. Bluetooth Car dock. Nokia has so many Apps that developers are fed up creating Apps Apps & Only Apps... cause Nokia is the dominant in the Mobile sector and every one wants to be a part of Nokia. But then Again.. As a tech lover.. Id the I Phone is very userfriendly and the functionality is by far the best every created.. in the Industry.. iMagine.. Nokia making touch phones.. something that they slacked right from the beginning.. Besides..Apple is giving every on a run for their berries and every possible phone maker begins or ends with a Touch screen.. unbelivabe... but take my word.. iphone can stun you..

imagine if a product like iphone runs on windows.. ud have no problem at all.. Id guess.. waiting to get my hands on an Iphone..

Isn't that the MAIN reason for buying a cell PHONE!

For me, I wanted a phone, with a good backup camera, MP3 player and GPS so I only need to take one device with me on holidays instead of 4. The N86 fullfilled those requirements.

Just wait a little more...all the applications installed in 3GS (Video Camera, et al) can be used on a regular 2G/3G device. It's on the works now. iphone 2G/3G users can now use the Video feature of the camera, but still not recording though, but getting there. iphone 2G still the best...metallic backplate helps as a heatsink for the phone. there have been cases of iphone 3gs overheating...white backplate turned into purple...seems like the casing can't cope up with the speed, eh? apple is working on the next update (3.1) to fix this.
