New Hair Lounge and Spa

Ladies,

For those of you still attempting to get a happy hair cut, I bravely tried Lucie Saint Clair at Royal Plaza. It has not open officially, but it taking in women that walk in or know its open. The spa is not operational yet until all staff arrive and are trained by paris.

For 300/- I had a cut and blowdry and was very pleased! The salon is gorgeous and I am pleased with my cut. A tunisian lady did it and after doing test number two (washing and blow drying myself) it is a good cut and I managed to make it look almost as good, which is not usually the case. The only drawback was that the lady could not speak english, but through one that could, she knew what i was looking for.

The hair wash was good too...a nice head massage.

My next stop will be for a colour. They have a proper colour bar there.

They do mani and pedi but not tried it yet. They also do makeup and the usual services.

I went to this salon yesterday to have highlights, I ended up in tears as they came out orange instead of blonde, the staff were going round asking other clients "doesn;t her hair look lovely?"

they redone my highlight after seeing me in such a state of distress and it was worse as my hair is now yellow and my scalp very painful, I was charged 1,310 QR for this disaster! Would not recommend this salon to anyone....

Any other colors are fine, I was perplexed at the request for halal hair color.....

They are using henna rather than color as this was the practise of the Prohpet (PBUH). They can use that Grecian stuff we get back home (as long as it isnt the black stuff) and they are still within Islamic guidlelines (goes for men and women).

many pathans use Henna instead of dye.

black henna is infact natural henna adulterated with a toxic chemical

Just because it is made doesnt make it permissable. There is marijuana, it exists, doesnt make it legal everywhere :)

Black henna is not a natural henna, it has additives. The only natural henna is the red stuff, which looks like green mud going on.

so Amoud - Alexa , if you colour your hair with henna is it haram / halal ???

By Amoud• 2 Mar 2009 22:41
Amoud

It is a strange one indeed isnt it :)

The Prophet (saw) said, "There will be people who will come later (in my Ummah) and apply black dye. They will not even smell the fragrance of paradise." (Abu Daawood)

I wasnt aware of this until I went to an Eid gathering in QCPI (this is Fanar now) and they handed out a booklet on "prohibitions taken too lightly" and there it was :). Henna is what the Prophet used and now considered Sunna, which is why I didnt get what Halal haircolor is.

No need to be sorry Novi sweety, I had the same reaction first time I heard this.

Novi I think you mean about the haircolor right?

Natural black hair is not haram, dying the hair black is.

I still think Glow has the best color/cut. They are experienced American ladies who have worked in top salons back home. Price is comparable to any other decent salon in Qatar.

Halal haircolor? Thats a new one. The only hair color I know to be Haram is black. If you are referring to henna you can buy it anywhere, but I like the Henna from Lush. ____________________________________________________

i been going to marie clare for the past 4 yrs. Tried somewhere else for a change (medical spa villagio) but their hair cut was disastrous.

I paid QR 180 hair cut and blow dry by Marie Clare herself.

Anyone knows a good place for hair removal ? I've been trying to do it myself but i'm not good at it.epilare I like creams but i would look for something a bit more permanent like wax.

Ne quid nimis.

Thanks, Cynbob. So if I have a haircut and wash and blow dry - it would cost me QR270?

I still haven't found the time to go to the hair saloon. Mandi told me where hers was but I have to go looking or it. If not too expensive, I'd take your recommendation. I can find Sheraton easily but QR270 is steep... Geez! Too busy. Gotta get my act together here..alternatively, maybe I have to get Mandi to draw me a map. Hopefully, will get going this Friday... or so... :0(

Note to self : Move ar**

I had my hair cut and styled at Elie $ Jean in the Sheraton...

cost starting @ 150QR cut; 120QR+ for blow-dry (depends on length); style--additional charge

These prices are so much higher than @ home. :(

Hi, I've just been to a swedish girl who works from a salon built inside her villa. She's used to consult for Kerastase in Sweden and she awesome. I got her email from a friend and got an appointment, shes very busy with euro blondes as you can imagine. I dont know whether she has availabilty but I guess u could always just email and see.

[email protected]

From what I know she does all styling and cuts, some styling's for weddings and does professional colours with Loreal colours. She's as good if not better than any salon Ive been to in Sydney.

Who did your hair colour?? I am super surprised that is ended up being terrible. 4 of my friends have been in and loved their cut and colour.

I was there. What they did to my hair colour was terrible! I'll never come there again, I am even scared to approach Royal Plaza from now on....

Next day I came to another saloon and we were improving everything...

300 for a cut and blow dry is very expensive. Is that the normal price around here?

/I didn't have time to get it done on my trip home last month so I'm looking for a reasonably good hair saloon here.
